About
Project overview
This piece explores the way music, books, and media have shaped my experience over time. When I was growing up, I felt fairly isolated. Songs, imagery, and books became my constant companions.
Part of the idea comes from The Smiths’ “Rubber Ring,” especially the line about “the songs that saved your life.” It captures how certain things you connect with when you’re young can take on a deeper role and feel like they’re standing beside you.
I wasn’t trying to show a step‑by‑step progression of influence. I was more focused on the general atmosphere of different stages of my life and the things that felt important to me, letting their presence in the collage speak for itself.
The adult section reflects the things that accompany me now, even if that part of my life feels less defined. It’s a space for the influences that continue to shape me in ways I’m still figuring out.
